Poultry products such as chicken and eggs are one of the most common food commodities in the world today. However, did you know that there are things you need to know about how these animals are bred and mass produced in captivity? A couple of these reasons can prove significant enough to convince you to switch to a vegetarian diet. First off is the way that these animals are actually being housed in poultries. They are typically caged together in significant numbers to save space and cost. Now the premise of having all those chickens living in proximity with one another makes it a lot easier to pass all that bacteria and illnesses around and that’s never a good thing.
You may at times find comfort in addressing this through proud statements of retailers that the commodity the eggs and meat that they sell are bred in wide areas and have not been subjected to all sorts of artificial substances but the only way to be sure about that is if they have a credible certification for it. Otherwise, the chicken meat and eggs that you purchased from them could possibly have been subjected to all sorts of antibiotics and growth stimulants that would allow sellers to process them quickly and effectively but all these substances can have a relatively unhealthy effect on the human body. The idea of having all those chicken dwelling in such a limited space and unsanitary environment doesn’t help either.
Did you also know that extreme sanitary measures are being used in the poultry business for people that actually come in contact with these animals? At most, this includes the use of bleach which is one of the most powerful chemicals known to eradicate bacteria and other harmful organisms.
Now seriously, do you like the idea of taking in something that needs the use of bleach to disinfect any person that has handled them? Also, chickens need to prepare at a certain temperature in order to be certain that it’s free from any bacteria that is certainly capable of causing various illnesses in the body.
Okay, I’ve proven my point so you’ll just pull out poultry products from the menu altogether. That should be enough right? Well, unfortunately it isn’t that simple since such factors are not confined to poultry products alone. For one thing, turkeys fit the same scenario and possibly any animal that is bred and produced for mass consumption. Despite what you might think, all the antibiotics and growth hormones have reached such extremes that these animals don’t even seem to taste natural anymore. This is certainly true since no commercially produced poultry products in the product today are completely free from these substances in one point or another.

Among these, I just would like to mention an image I saw of poultry workers carrying these poor chickens by the neck and just tossing them to these cages like it was a game. I for one certainly wouldn’t want an animal so poorly handled on any of my menu.
Besides, artificially mass producing these animals is unarguably not a natural course of action to take in addressing our needs for food consumption. With all the artificial substances people subject them to, it has become a relatively heartless thing to do and has made this food source a significantly unhealthy one.
Now you might say that this doesn’t really make any real difference and that this is all completely natural since what we are dealing with here are animals regarded as a food commodity. While that may be true, it is highly doubtful that all the artificial methods used to raise such animals had not affected it significantly.
