The human body is a wonderful thing. It has adapted over millions of years to the surroundings around us. The body has continued to bloom through heat and cold, dark and light and feast and famine. It is this last set of conditions that is most significant to individuals attempting to slim down by the use of exercise and weight loss.
Why? The body has learned to store energy in periods of famine. As soon as food consumption drops, the body does not know, and does not care, if you’re on a diet or simply unable to find adequate food. To the body, a sustained drop in calories means one thing – it is survival time, baby!
Under these conditions, the body starts to amass body fat as kind of an insurance policy against the coming hard times. If the decreased calorie consumption means something needs to go weight-wise, the body sure is not giving up that insurance. No way. Instead, the body will begin to sacrifice healthy muscle tissue. Consequently, with many fad and/or crash diets, it is not extra fat that’s being lost, it’s healthy tissue.
As soon as food intake raises, and it always will with these yo-yo diet programs, the body happily begins regaining every part of that lost muscle tissue and, you guessed it, all the weight lost goes right back on. That is why exercise plus weight loss need to become partners in any successful long-term weight loss program.
Exercise plus weight loss work hand in hand with the body’s own evolutionary adaptations to make sure successful and healthy weight loss. Regular exercise raises the body’s metabolism, as a result that calories are burned more effectively. This raise in metabolism, in turn, sends a apparent point to the body that any reduction in food intake is not grounds for alarm. The body in its place correctly attributes the fall in calories to the increased activity brought on by frequent exercise.
Under these conditions, the body doesn’t store fat like a miser. Instead, it burns body fat like there’s no tomorrow in an attempt to keep up with the demand for energy. The result is naturally effective weight loss. The weight comes off and stays off. This is why exercise and weight loss become the solution to successful dieting.

Everyone has tried to lose weight with the latest diet plan or weight loss discovery. It always starts off well and you lose a few pounds but almost inevitably you end up frustrated and just as heavy as when you started. We go on diets all the time but few of us analyze why the diet failed to avoid repeating the mistakes.
It’s unfortunate but often people have unrealistic expectations for what dieting. Maybe they expect it to happen too easily or maybe they have an unrealistic timetable for weight loss. We all want to look good for beach season but starting the diet in June won’t give you enough time to pull it off.
Diets often fail for predictable reasons. Here’s 4 of the most common.
Sudden deprivation. Many diets force you to go from “anything goes” to “full stop”. Eliminating whole groups of foods from your diets while severely restricting the rest can often be just too much for the average person and often can lead to poor nutrition.
Dieting or not, we have to get on with our lives. Having a social life often means eating out with friends or just meeting for drinks and appetizers. When we’re on a diet that requires us to weigh and measure everything we eat, it becomes incompatible with our lives.
Dieting is just one part of the weight loss battle. Unfortunately, many people are firmly opposed to the idea of regular exercise but any substantial, sustained weight loss is difficult without it.
Planning to diet until a goal is reached. It’s good to have goals. Unfortunately, being on a diet until you reach a goal doesn’t plan for what happens next. You lost weight for your wedding or your high school reunion but you didn’t change your eating habits or your exercise habits and the weight came right back with a vengeance.
Successfully losing weight and keeping it off takes a change in the way you think about food and incorporating exercise into your daily routine. If you can get educated about nutrition and find out what kinds of foods are good for you and bad for you, you will finally be on track to losing the weight for good.

For those trying to lose weight and eat a healthy diet there is an avalanche of material available ready to overwhelm you. With so much information and advice on dieting it can be difficult to know what is good information and what isn’t. Keeping it simple can be valuable advice.
When trying to lose weight there is one rule of thumb that is a safe bet to follow to make sure you’re losing weight and staying healthy: Avoid the white foods. The white foods that I’m talking about are white flour, salt, sugar, pasta and white rice.
Processed carbohydrates are very different from the natural foods that grow up out of the ground. Many of the vitamins and nutrients are removed by processing along with a great deal of the fiber. The process of taking wheat and turning it into white flour removes over half of the zinc, vitamin E and folic acid. Foods made with white flour like pasta and bread have lost most of the nutrition because of the processing. Enriching flour attempts to add the nutrients back in but even after enriching, 90% of the vitamins and minerals are lost.
The goal of making foods tastier and more visually appealing causes so many nutrients to be lost that they really barely resemble food anymore. Also, so much fiber is lost there is nothing to prevent glucose from getting into your bloodstream very quickly. When faced with all that glucose all at once, your pancreas tries to pump out enough insulin to make up for it. Over time the demand on the pancreas because of all that processed food and all of the extra body fat leads to diabetes.
Lack of proper nutrition contributes to cancer, heart disease and diabetes. This has been proven in study after study. Eating processed carbohydrates puts us in a nutritional deficit along with a surplus of empty calories. The end result is overweight, poorly fed people. Ultimately, the lack of nutrition is the cause of an epidemic of disease and obesity.
You can lose weight and still eat a lot. Just make 90% of your diet fruits and vegetables. Shun the processed carbohydrates that are killing you. This includes bread, bagels, pasta and pastries. Get the white foods out of your diet and the battle is as good as won.

Everywhere you go, all the time, people continue to ask the question – ‘how do you lose weight fast?’ This day and age many so called experts state that they have uncovered the secrets to the perfect diet and that by following their secret system you will lose weight. Too bad, too many of these solutions do nothing at all for those who try them. Many people go on diets for weeks or even months, only to find out that they will regain all the weight that they have lost and in many circumstances even gain more weight than before.
Some diets like the famous Atkins Diet might help in putting off the extra flab, however such high cholesterol, high protein and low carbohydrate diets can be very dangerous to your health. The unexplained circumstances surrounding the death of Dr. Robert Atkins have in fact been explained by many to be hinged to his own diet. If you ask me, I’d say the Atkins diet isn’t exactly the best or healthiest way to lose weight.
Craze diets are all over the place, but a few of them actually work. The Calorie Shifting Menu, for one, is pretty effective. ‘You will shed weight when your body is deprived of certain calories on certain days’, is how this diet functions. The guidelines say that for the first 11 days of the 14 day plan of this diet, you stick to a tailored meal.
On this plan, you eat every two and a half to three hours – up to four times a day. Eat 4 times a day, I hear you asking? Yes, by eating certain types of food (not junk food) at regular intervals until you are satisfied (not full), you will increase the metabolism rate of your body which results in fat loss which leads to weight loss.
After following the diet plan for 11 days you have 3 days off where you are allowed to eat anything you like (even junk food). Do again the 14-day outline and stay with it as long as it takes for you to be happy with the weight you have lost. With the help of the Calorie Shifting Menu, many have lost weight fast and maintained it, which proves that it is indeed a huge way to lose weight.
