Action movies are as popular as they have ever been. In general, the summer and Christmas seasons are primetime for going to the movies and seeing the best action sequences Hollywood has to offer. If you want to see superheroes, explosions and mind blowing CGI, this is the time to go to the movies.
There have been many great action movies in recent years, but the following are some of my favorites.
When it comes to superhero movies, big action sequences are a given. However, the best superhero action movie award goes to The Dark Knight. The scene where Batman wraps a cable around the wheels a truck speeding toward him is an unforgettable sequence.
Speaking of movies involving heroes, the second Matrix film also blew away my expectations (visually, at least). There is a car chase scene in this film where Carrie Anne Moss is driving a motorcycle on the freeway into incoming traffic that is crazy to watch.
Avatar very well might be the greatest action film I have ever seen. The combination of a foreign planet and revolutionary 3D technology created an experience we, as movie viewers, have never seen before. I cannot wait to see what the sequel will bring.
Another film that was action packed while satisfying critics and audiences around the world was Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King. Peter Jackson pulled out all the stops with the final story in this epic trilogy, and as a result, the film won the Oscar for best picture of the year.
Another action film that I thoroughly enjoyed was Kick-Ass. This film certainly featured something we have never seen before: A 10 year old girl beating up on bad guys. Hit Girl does not mess around, and some of the scenes in this film are not for the faint of heart.
As it stands, this is my list. I may have to save room for the Expendables, as it has the biggest action cast ever assembled and has been in the works for years.

There are certain shows that after viewing once, you never need to see again. This is not a list of those shows. The following are all television series that retain their entertainment value upon multiple viewings.
The Simpsons is on most people’s lists of top 10 favorite shows. There is a reason it has been on for 20 seasons and shows no signs of throwing in the towel. I used to videotape every episode I could, however I did not know that DVD box sets were going to exist!
Another show that finds its way on most people’s “best of TV” lists is Seinfeld. IT is no coincidence that it is syndicated on multiple channels daily, over a decade after the last official episode aired.
Entourage – Quick and easy. This show is just a good time and usually only lasts about 24 minutes. The jokes come quick and the episodes are lighthearted. It is an incredibly easy show to watch with a fast lunch.
When I was living in the fraternity house, we would watch old episodes of The Price Is Right during lunch. I cannot explain why, but for some reason this show is incredibly entertaining to watch now.
The Office is a great show that retains its value after multiple viewings. I think this is due to the fact that while it technically is chronological, that doesn’t really matter. Every episode is funny, but the earlier seasons are the best.
Another show that retains its value after multiple viewings is Most Extreme Elimination challenge. Something about watching people foolishly get hurt in order to win small amounts of money just does not lose its humor over time.
Friends – Ok so maybe I personally do not watch friends, but I know my sister has it on constantly, so I will give a shout out to a show for women. Like Seinfeld, Friends is constantly syndicated.

For the NBA Western Conference Playoffs, this has been a tumultuous year. While some series has been decided in four games and some in seven, most of these series have been exhilarating. If you haven’t been paying attention, here’s a brief analysis of what’s happened so far.
In the first round, the Los Angeles Lakers faced the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Laker’s coach Phil Jackson got this series off to a heated start by making cheap shots about the way that Thunder star Kevin Durant plays the game, insisting he lives at the foul line.
In the end, Kobe Bryant refused to let his squad lose this one.
In a matchup of I couldn’t care less, the Utah Jazz were able to beat out the Denver Nuggets in X games. I don’t know what it is about the Utah Jazz, but I really just don’t like this team. Williams is great but I just don’t find them entertaining.
The Phoenix suns were pitted against the pesky Portland Trailblazers in the first round. The Trailblazers are good, but the Suns played like winners behind their captain Steve Nash and ended up taking the series in six games.
The final round 1 matchup was a Texas showdown, as the Dallas Mavericks played the San Antonio Spurs. People thought this Spurs team was too old and the Mavericks were too hot, but the Spurs continued to silence the haters and took this series in 4-1.
In the Western Conference semifinals, the San Antonio Spurs were pitted against the Phoenix Suns. Up until this year, the Spurs had won the last five playoff series against the Suns, however this time was different. The Suns played to make a statement and swept the Spurs in the feel-good story of the playoffs.
The Lakers took on the Jazz in the second round and swept them in 4 games. It was never close. Now the Lakers and the Suns are battling it out in another exciting matchup.

What does the term “Tramp Stamp” mean? The term “tramp Stamp” refers to lower back tattoos on women and it suggests that the women who wear them are promiscuous.
The Urban Dictionary says the following about women who wear lower back tattoos: “Those chicks with tramp stamps are the kinds of girls you take home to bang. Don’t get into relationships with them because they are often immature gold digging sluts who sleep with everyone.”
Ignorant opinions This is an example of ignorance gone wild. Someone has a strong opinion about something, based on pure ignorance or prejudice, and they spread their mindless ramblings as fact. And of course, rumors spread faster than wildfires, so the next thing you know everyone believes this bull and continues to pass it on as solid truth.
Where did this “Tramp Stamp” term originate from? It’s not very clear when it became a popular phrase to describe lower back tattoos on women, but it’s been much more prevalent recently.
Are any of these rumors true? Is it true that women who wear lower back tattoos may be more promiscuous than others? The studies that say they prove a correlation between lower back tattoos and promiscuity are neither scientific nor accurate. Women who are already promiscuous may choose to get a lower back tattoo, but that doe not necessarily mean it goes both ways. It would be like saying that since some rabid dogs bite, then all dogs that bite are rabid!
Is there a connection between lower back tattoos and sexuality? It’s fair to say that women who display tattoos on the sensual lower curvature of their backs are expressing sensuality and sexual confidence. Showing a little lower back, with or without ink, is no different than showing skin on other sensual areas of the body. In the 1800s, a woman would be considered immodest if she showed her shoulders or legs. The shocking pinups of the early 20th century, featuring bathing beauties in swimsuits that are laughably modest today, were considered positively pornographic. Even in the mid-1900s, “good girls” never showed cleavage! Fortunately, times have changed and women are freer to show skin without raising as many eyebrows, but that doesn’t mean it never happens.
Are you willing to accept the attention?definitely If you have a lower back tattoo and if you decide to display it by wearing low-rise jeans or crop tops, you will definitely beed to accept the fact that you are going to attract additional attention. Can you handle it? To assert yourself as sexually confident and strong independent woman means being able to carry yourself in a dignified manner despite any negative reactions.
Inappropriate Comments? Showing a lower back tattoo is not an open invitation for others to make sexual comments. While it may be true that there are those out there who will judge women with lower back tattoos and refer to them as “tramp stamps,” there is no truth to the claim that these women are any more promiscuous than others.
Who will judge you? If you are a woman wanting a lower back tattoo, go for it. If you’re concerned about the people who will judge you for it, either toughen up or cover up. And if you’re one of the ignorant people spreading the “tramp stamp” rumors, well – consider yourself educated.

Shoppers in this new millennium are much more aware about electronic goods than people were at any time before. The older generation of today grew up in the 1960’s and 1970’s when everyone in the West had a television set and a stereo. Previous generations were not so fortunate for financial and technological reasons. Therefore, most shoppers nowadays have no problems about going shopping for complex electronic equipment like a home theater.
It is in the shoppers’ best interest to study and comprehend about the components that go into making up a good home theater. It is not particularly exacting and many if not all of the components involved have been around for at least a few years now. Think about what goes into a home theater:
a screen – can be a television screen, a canvas screen for a projector or a modern plasma or LCD screen. Forget about the modern varieties of screen, they are still fundamentally TV screens and they have been around for 80 years or so. Same with a projector.
a player – a DVD player is just an improved CD player and they have been out for 20-30 years. You have probably had one for most of that time. (You can add another dimension to your home theater here by swapping an Xbox for the DVD player, but games machines are not new).
speakers – they are nothing new either. Speakers have been about as long as the television set.
So you see, there is nothing in that package which you should feel awkward about buying. Fair enough, you will be buying state of the art examples of what I listed above, but they are fundamentally the same. You attach them all together with their special plugs and wires and then plug them into the mains. Switch on and it will work.
So the next question is: do you purchase a package or do you buy the elements and build your own home theater? The answer to that question really depends on your level of competency. A package is easy and may work out cheaper too, but will it have the flexibility that you want? If you have a standard sized and standard shaped room, then I am sure that you will be able to buy a package that will suit you. If you think that the speakers are sub-standard, you could always sell them on and upgrade after a period.
if you want to be sure of getting precisely what you want, I think that most people will have to buy the components separately: that is screen, player and speakers.
The size of the screen depends on the size of the room and how close you are sitting to it: a distance of between three times and five times the diagonal of the screen is about correct. However, some people like to be dominated by the screen and others do not want to wear their glasses, so it is up to personal choice.
The DVD player is a matter of personal preference too. They are all much of a muchness, but some people prefer Sanyo while others prefer Philips. If you want gaming functionality too, use an Xbox instead of an regular DVD player.
Most rooms will require at least a 5.1 surround sound speaker set. These ought to be acquired as one package to ensure that they are all well-matched. That is five normal speakers and a sub-woofer.
