When people think of eating healthily it gets them worried that they may have to change their diet radically in order to attain the weight loss that they require. We are all aware that cutting out fatty and sweet foods will speed up the process of weight loss but there are some slower steps that you can take too to lose the weight.

Here we look at altering your diet slightly and losing the weight over time instead of trying to do it all at once.

You could instead of giving things up try to use alternatives. For example instead of cutting out mayonnaise on your food you could use mustard, avocado or even hummus.

Cheese plays a big part in many of our lives but pasteurized cheese is not as good for you as say unprocessed cheese. So you could in fact swap these products if you want to eat healthily. Another way would be to cut out the cheese altogether but that is a bit more radical.

Fish is a good provider of proteins and the omega acids in fish are very good for people’s skin. So it may help you to start eating fish as part of your healthy diet. You could eat fresh fish such as Tuna or Salmon or even the canned Tuna as they are all a good source of protein.

White meat such as Chicken is loved by most people and many decide to deep fry it because of the lovely taste. Deep fried food is definitely not good for you so why not try to grill it instead.

Too many people rely on carbonated drinks and of course these are not very good for you either. Some people tend to use the diet carbonated drinks but again these are not ideal for a healthy diet. So if you cannot cut them out altogether why not try something that is a little better for you such as Seltzer.

After a good session of juicing your favourite fruits or vegetable and no matter how cautious you were with the preparations, you cannot avoid from causing a mess. It is always nice to be spend some time to clean up all that mess and also the juicer itself after the session. As a health conscious person, just look at the cleaning up as another way of giving your body that much needed exercise.

There are so many types of juicers in the market to choose from nowadays. We can not only choose from the humble ridged juicer, but also from the many more choices of highly technical and priced models too. It depends on you to pick the right one for your wallet and also your personality.

The first design of the juicer was really simple. The juicer was made out of two flat wood planes and in order for them to get the juices; they will simply smash the fruits in between the two wood planes. This results in a more refined juice without the pulp. However, this is still not enough for people. They believed that they can further improve the juicer design. Then, the ridged juicer is brought to life.

The centrifugal juicers are brilliant in order to juice almost any kind of fruit and vegetables. It does the job very quickly and easily too. Nevertheless, they do have a difficulty in extracting effectively high amount of juice from grassed and leafy foods such as the wheatgrass, alfalfa, lettuce and other herbs. Not to worry, those juicers do extract juices from those greens, but significantly less than those produced by the twin gear juicer.

For those who love to have their leafy food’ juices, the wheatgrass juicers are excellent choice for them. They are made exclusively to extract juices from leafy greens such as the alfalfa, wheatgrass and others as well as fruits like grapes and strawberries. As it is called wheatgrass juicers, these juicers are not suitable for juicing hard food as that will damage the juicing blades.

A juicer, no matter how old or updated the design is, is still the same product that gives us the fresh juices that we love. One can buy a RM20 juicer and use that for the rest of their life. Not only that, it is not hard to do on our own, too. Juicer has always been an important part of people’s life who takes health very seriously.

After thoroughly cleaning the parts, dry them completely on a dish rack. The drying process helps to eliminate all possible rust factors. You do not want to have any rusts in your future juice, do you? This step also makes your juicer ready to be stored so that no mold or fungi will be able to make your juicer their breeding ground.

This does not only symbolizes a modern living, but also a more healthy and happy living. Kids love juices and enjoy those in the form of juices. As they grow up, those children will love fruits and in fact, parents can teach their children to love fruits and vegetables by making them used to the vegetables without the parents pushing their children to eat those.

Mike Walker keeps a best juicer blog in which he writes about the best juicers he uses. He recommends many types of juicers like the centrifugal juicers, citrus juicers, wheatgrass juicers and more.

Acai drinks are promoted for their antioxidant value and support of one’s health. But the secret of this little purple date palm fruit from the Amazon is found within the berry. Some think the seed from the Acai has secret health properties: it does not. It has no nutritional value nor does it have value in helping your skin. The real secret to the Acai berry is the oil. Yes, Acai oil has naturally occurring oil in it that is healthy for your insides and your outsides.

Acai oil contains Omega 3, 6 & 9 however the amounts of omega 3 are so small that it really does not constitute a significant source of that fatty acid. The oil occurs naturally within the Acai fruit or Acai date palm berry. The acai oil is not cold pressed as so, many unknowing marketers claim. Acai skin and pulp which includes the oil is separated from the very large single seed found within the acai berry. It is separated by first soaking the berries in warm water then pushing them through a machine that literally beats the skin and flesh off of the seed. This makes a very dark purple almost black porridge or pudding like consistency pulp or “polpa”. This polpa is then quickly frozen.

In some cases the acai berry oil is extracted from the polpa and used separately. The oil is green in color and is healthier than virgin olive oil. The true test of any Acai drink is to look for the green oil that floats to the top and forms a ring sometimes staining the top of the container. The taste is similar to virgin olive oil with an earthy grass tone. The oil is safe to consume and contributes to the overall nutritional profile of the Acai berry juice. Acai is also used in bath and body products.

Omega 9 fatty acids are considered useful in lowering cholesterol levels, reducing atherosclerosis or hardening of the arteries, reducing insulin resistance and improving or moderating blood glucose levels and improving immune function.

Omega 6 fatty acids are considered useful in helping with acne, eczema and psoriasis, allergies, helps prevent peripheral neuropathy or nerve disease associated with diabetes, lower blood pressure, alleviating menopausal hot flashes, improve bone health and weight loss.

Acai fruit oil properties include moisturizing, restoration of the skins natural elasticity, protection from free radical damage, anti-bacterial, rich in B vitamins, rich in essential fatty acids, phytosterols and anthocyanins. Acai berry oil is good for both topical application and internal consumption. Acai is recommended for softening mature aging skin, skin that is damaged by the sun and wind, acne, eczema, anti-inflammation and heart health. Acai berry oil is a secret to younger looking more healthy skin and a healthy heart to match.

In previous years, it was widely believed that mangosteen was safe for everyone. Adults and children, with rare exception, could take it without incident or medical interaction.

Even doctors used to share this belief. They would complain sometimes that their patients would take it instead of staying on their needed medicines, but there was no concern over interactions.

Now, we know better. It is not as safe as has been believed. Taking this can reduce the production of essential fats in the body. In someone who does not have weight to lose, this can be quite dangerous.

In immunodeficiency conditions, it may be quite dangerous. Lipids are essential fuel for the human body, and in any wasting condition blocking lipid production can be extremely dangerous.

In fact, some reports show that this popular antioxidant may actually interfere with the effectiveness of some cancer treatments including radiation and chemotherapy. Diabetics, also, have been advised to be careful with it, as it is not sugar-free.

Mangosteen does not stay fresh very long at all. This is a problem because its therapeutic properties are only available if you use it in its natural state. Manufacturers try to extend its shelf life by adding stabilizing agents and various preservatives.

Unfortunately, some stabilizers and preservatives come with side effects. In fact, some side effects and drug interactions associated with it may be triggered by additives rather than by the fruit itself.

Here is another reason that you need to be careful with mangosteen. It blocks histamines in the body. You might think that this is a good thing, especially if you sometimes take antihistamines. What many people don’t realize, however, is that histamines are important to healing. When you are injured they increase blood flow to this area. Histamines also affect important metabolic responses, and if these chemicals are blocked it is very metabolically disruptive.
