It has become more and more difficult to provide quick, healthy meals that are affordable for a family. Having to cook and clean anything used to prepare and eat the meal can also be added strenuous tasks for parents, especially working parents.

All you would like to do is take a chance to sit down and relax and let someone else do the cooking for you. While most “instant meals” are expensive and generally unhealthy, there are some solutions that are nutritious and can be easy to prepare.

One quick and easy meal is chicken. Try chopping up some potatoes and some onions and top the chicken with seasoning in the oven. Also, you can use the chicken wings to makes a soup.

All you have to do, is wait for the chicken to bake. While you wait, you can use the free time to spend with your children, relax, or accomplish other tasks that need to be done.

If you are a vegetarian, try making pasta with some tomato sauce, some spices, and may some cheese.

You can get creative with the past sauce. By adding different ingredients you are changing up the sauce and flavors. Try adding some mushrooms or some other spices to your sauce and change it up a bit.

Another quick, healthy, and cheap meal the kids will love are eggs. There is a middle eastern dish that has grown in popularity in homes called “Shakshuka,” which is eggs mixed with tomatoes and onions and served on top of rice. This is a meal that is healthy and the whole family will love.

Have you ever tried making a homemade pizza instead of going for the same delivery or frozen pizza that you’ve had a thousand times? If not, you should try it sometime – it can be a lot of fun and the kids can get involved too. You can even make homemade pizza with ingredients that you probably already have in the house.

All pizzas are composed of three important parts. Focus on getting these parts right and your pizza will probably be quite good.

Crust – You can use a variety of products to make the crust of your pizza, so it pays to be able to consider a variety of options here. Many people find it convenient to make personal mini-pizzas using English muffins. Others like to use the dough from a pack of crescent rolls. If you’re short on other options, you can also use normal white bread in a pinch.

If you have time to head to the store to pick up ingredients, look for a ready-made crust for homemade pizza. These crusts are easy to use and they provide great results.

Toppings – This is where you’ll get to personalize your pizza and really make it according to your specifications. Put on whatever toppings you think would be good.

The most important thing to remember is to use the best ingredients you can find. Fresh, organic ingredients are best. Your salsa will only be as good as the ingredients you use. If you are only going to make mediocre salsa, why not stick with the jarred kind from the store?

Use fresh, ripe organic tomatoes for the just-picked taste that makes homemade salsa such a treat. Add a fresh organic onion as well. Your salsa will taste fresh from the garden.

Organic peppers are your next addition. Choose your peppers based on the heat level you are going for. Fans of spicy foods will want to use habanero peppers.

Gauge the heat level for your salsa to who will be eating it. If it’s going to be just you, make it as hot as you can stand if that is your thing. For salsa you’ll be serving to others, though, you need to make sure it will be enjoyable for everyone.

If you have guests coming who cannot eat, or don’t like, hot foods, and others who enjoy hot foods, you can always make two batches to suit each group. Making mild salsa and hot salsa both isn’t that complex, often it involves making a large batch of mild salsa and then taking out some of it and adding peppers to this second portion.

Use a recipe. Some people figure, how hard can it be, it’s only salsa! But when you are using fresh organic ingredients, you risk ruining an expensive mix of vegetables if you come up with a batch that doesn’t taste right. It’s simple enough to find salsa recipes online, if you don’t have one handy.

If you make a mistake, you can sometimes counteract it but it adds expense. A too hot batch can be toned down with more tomato. A batch that tastes too strongly of tomato can be jazzed up with more peppers and onions. If you use a recipe though, it’s more likely that you won’t make mistakes you have to try to fix.

Appetizers before a meal can be quite a good idea. My favorite appetizer has to be soup, and there are so many different varieties of soups that can be made.

Soup may seem a little boring to some people, but with a little creativity there can be some very tasty results. Here are a few of my favorite recipes for soup.

First on my list is traditional Butternut squash soups with a twist. Instead of just the original Butternut squash soup, why not add an Apple flavor to it? This can give it a nice sweet taste to the soup.

Cream of Broccoli soup has long been a favorite of mine, and I would imagine many others too, but if you were to add some croutons and melted cheese into the pot, just think of the different tastes that would then be found. The creamy soup and croutons with a gorgeous melted cheese influence, totally inspiring!

Another firm favorite is the potato soup, but instead of chopped potatoes, why not replace them with a lightly seasoned Brown Potato Nugget? Just imagine the nice textured crispy feel to you soup. You can add as much seasoning to the Potato as you like, it’s entirely your choice.

Everybody likes to try pumpkin soup, but again why not tweak it a little bit by making bisque; or how about a gazpacho for a change?

Finally if you love Turkey then this is just for you. Instead of cream of turkey soup, why not add a few turkey dumplings to the mix? This will give it an awesome taste. It may take you a bit longer to make than normal, but it will be worth it in the end.

Soup doesn’t have to always be the same old boring taste. Try to mix and match for better results, and enjoy your appetizers.

One of the best habits that anybody can develop is eating healthily. Healthy eating habits goes a long way in maintaining your health. As the old adage goes, ‘We are what we eat’. Aside from doing exercise routines, eating healthily is the other side of the equation.

The conditions for healthy eating are much different than it was a generation ago. No longer is a healthy diet about eating ‘three square meals’ per day. In fact, this expression originated from the British navy, referring to the wooden square plates that cooks used to serve food. While the naval diet is not exactly healthy (as you may know, Scurvy was a common disease in the Seven Seas), the tips outlined below are sure to keep your body energized:

* Watch how many calories you eat. Do not eat too much or too little. As a general rule of thumb, the recommended value per day is 2000 calories. There are other factors to consider, however, such as age, height, weight, and amount of physical activity.

* Eat a wide variety of food. Do not just eat within one food group all the time. You should maintain a healthy diet that includes vegetables, whole grains, and fruits. Feel free to explore different foods!

* Eat the proper serving. Nowadays, restaurants give you portions that are way too large, which contributes to the obesity rates everywhere. The word ’supersize’ has unfortunately entered our vocabulary. In other cultures, the food portions are much smaller (and consequently much less expensive). The next time you dine out at a restaurant, split up any large restaurant dishes between multiple people. Not only do you save money, but you are also eating healthier!

* As mentioned before, eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Your body needs a fine balance of complex carbohydrates (or whole grains, such as whole wheat and brown rice). These are used more slowly in your body, thus keeping you full for a longer period of time. Fresh organic local produce is also highly recommended.

* Drink lots of water. Although the myth of drinking 8 glasses of water per day has been debunked, we should still drink plenty of fluids daily. Water is one of the healthiest substances in this planet. Our bodies are consists of 80% water.

* Eat less refined sugar, salt, and grain. We put excessive amounts of unhealthy condiments into our food. While it makes our meals taste better, it also contributes to an unhealthy lifestyle. Too much sugar contributes to diabetes and obesity, while too much salt may give us heart problems. A recent study shows that Canadians eat 50% too much sodium, contributing to a wide variety of health problems.

* Exercise regularly. Eating a healthy diet is only part of the equation. If you add in routine physical activity, you can further improve your well-being.

Eating healthily is a step by step process. All of the tips above should not be implemented at once. Instead, you should slowly work these habits into your life at a pace that makes you feel comfortable. The best way to develop healthy eating habits is through time, patience, and commitment.
