A Healthy Diet For Weight Loss

Many people are trying to find a healthy diet for weight loss, the problem is there so many weight loss programs out there it difficult to find one that works.  One thing you should realize is that a healthy diet for weight loss is only half of the battle as you’ll also need to be getting some type of exercise to truly get healthy and fit.  In this article we’re going to be discussing a healthy diet for weight loss and explain to you the do’s and don’ts when preparing your meals.

The first thing you need to remember when you’re trying to come up with a healthy diet for weight loss is that calories do matter.  Traditional calorie intake for a male should be around 2000 calories per day.  And that additional calorie intake for a female would be between 1500 and 1750 calories per day.  Of course you must also understand that the more active you are the more calories you can take in each day.  On the other hand, if you sit around all day and do not give any form of physical exercise you may actually need to lower the calorie intake in order to lose weight.

The next thing you want to keep in mind when it comes to a healthy diet for weight loss is to spread your meals out between 5 to 6 meals per day.  While most people are used to breakfast, lunch and dinner, this is not the best way to maximize your weight loss.  Rather than heating three large meals per day your body will be able to lose more weight if you divide your calories into five or six meals per day, this is a healthy diet for weight loss and also very effective.  So if you are a male you should be eating five meals at 400 calories each or six meals at 350 calories each everyday.

Another thing you want to make sure of is that you are not eating meals past 5:00 PM.  If you eat meals later in the day there’s a good chance that some of that food will still be in your stomach when you go to sleep.  And because you are at rest, these un-digested foods will be stored in your body is fat.  This completely defeats the purpose of finding a healthy diet for weight loss if you are just going to be storing the fat what you’re sleeping.

You are also going to want to make sure that the foods you are eating are healthy foods. If you load up on fast food everyday, even if you are staying with the correct calorie intake, you will not be able to lose weight because of all the fat that you find in these types of foods.
